Re: N900 Bluetooth Keyboard + Mouse scripts

I'm using version 0.6 and I've finally gotten my MS Notebook Mouse 5000 to work. It's a PITA to get to switch to use a different system. But after that hurdle, I can turn the mouse off and back on....

Re: Suddenly better 3G?

I did notice a huge boost to 3G near my house in Central Arkansas. I'm on T-Moble, and they are not suppose to have 3G in my area. But I do have a 3G/3.5G signal with the cell tower service areas...

Re: A-list applications for N900 - what do you recommend?

Re: Ok, I'm Impressed, Just Not Convinced (Yet)

Yea data conversion does suck. But it's a fact of life, and it's a part of what I do for a living (Systems Adminstrator). And I've had a LOT of mobile devices (and services) in the past. Data...

Re: A few help questions for the experts please :)

But it's possible to add multiple one, but it's not for the faint of heart. It require access to the...

Re: Ok, I'm Impressed, Just Not Convinced (Yet)

I seem to recall from the Nokia show that next Maemo device would be release in the second half of 2010. At a guess I think Oct 2010 would be the earliest.

As to what you would gain, I really...

Re: "Surging iPod touch eclipses the iPhone" ... while Nokia stupidly abandons tablets!

There is a market for people who want a form factor like the N8x0. The cell radio add a big premium to the price of smartphone. So the N900 w/o a SIM card is really an option. I hope Nokia doesn't...

Re: Memory cards for n900 - recommendations?

16GB is the latest size factor for microSD cards. So they are going to be more expensive initially. As supply ramps up, the 16BG cards will fall in price. When the 32GB cards are available, the...

Re: N900 not recognizing mircoSDHC cards. (Back cover open)

I can definitely confirm it's a magnet which senses whether the backcover is on or off. i used the magnet on a generic case I bought for my N900. I was able to enable the SD card with the cover off...

Re: watch out for the magnet under the camera cover

The magnet on and under the Kickstand (in the body) is to hold it on place when closed. The backcover appears to be too thin to engineer a spring mechanics to hold the kickstand open and closed at...

Re: NOOB ALERT - how do i remote my n900 from PC?

There is an appliation which allows you to VNC to an existing X-server. It's called, appropriately, X11vnc. There is a port for Maemo 5, but it's currently in the Maemo Extras Development repository....

Re: Will the Motorola S9 (Motoroker) work with the N900

I own an S9. It's works just fine with the N900. Sound quality of an AD2P stream is good. All of the controls work: play/pause, next and previous. Oddly enough, I haven't tried the S9 on a phone...

Re: Unable to view/browse Micro SD via PC Suite/Bluetooth

Re: App Manager get stuck on "checking for updates" on wi-fi, works fine on cellular

Well with you additional testing, it seems the issue is with Akami's name servers coming from the public IP address of your Wifi connection.

And please forgive my brain dead idea of getting the...

Re: App Manager get stuck on "checking for updates" on wi-fi, works fine on cellular

Re: App Manager get stuck on "checking for updates" on wi-fi, works fine on cellular

Oy. With Akami involved it does complicate things. But no the certificate isn't the problem. The problem is occuring before the N900 even attempts to connect to downloads.maemo.nokia.com.

IF you...

Re: App Manager get stuck on "checking for updates" on wi-fi, works fine on cellular

No. As I posted. The problem was a DNS timeout error. In the venacular is that DNS resolver on the N900 failed to resolve the host name of the site. Basically it means a device looking up the IP...

Re: App Manager get stuck on "checking for updates" on wi-fi, works fine on cellular

That is the proper host name. The error message you posted is a DNS error. The error means that the N900 didn't get any answer when trying to get the IP address to downloads.maemo.nokia.com. Ther are...

Re: How secured is the N900 with Maemo5?

Technically the user 'user' has an invalid password hash. Unix platforms store user passwords as a hash instead of plain text. To login in you type your password. The server calculates a hash based...
