Get a power source (3.8-4v, at least able to kick out 1a) and wire it to the battery terminals on your n900. Could be pretty much any li-ion single cell, or a ac-dc adapter rated for that...

A program i downloaded to pair my sixaxis with a nook color tablet running CM10 nightly files, sixaxispairtool, changes the mac on the ps3 controller under windows 7 64bit just fine.
Super easy...

I hope its as simple as a blown fuse, but if not, i got a hell of a deal on a like new n900 on ebay ($145 shipped) :D. And i always have my n810 to charge batterys with soo its all...

lshal -m turns up nothing as well, tried it with a wall charger, my ubec/lipo usb charger, and connected to my pc. Nothing comes up under any of those conditions.
I'll keep digging for info...

If you wanted to go all out as far as stereo quality, in a car, id say some kind of mini-itx/pico-it/ other super low power car pc's, and get a adequate ssd (vibrational issues with hd's i'd assume),...
