Re: Is the N800 ugly ?

I've dropped my N800 hard enough to knock the faceplate off 3 times, and it falls off my bed onto my wood floor at least a couple times a week. It's got a few knicks and scrapes on the corners....

Re: Recommended Screen Protector

I have a three pack of Boxwave protectors, and I'm still on first one. If you get it on with just a few bubbles, leave it on. They'll come out. Use the cardboard that came with it to smoothe it on.

Re: Putting ebooks, NIT and big sales into the same sentence

My N800 is used for reading ebooks more than anything else. I just wish more DRM-free ebooks were available. Publishers are missing out on my business.

Now, drm and locked to hardware? No thanks....

Re: N800 or N810

I'm going to echo what several others have already posted.

If I had to choose, today, I'd still go with the N800. I bought one when it had only been out for a few months, and I wouldn't trade it...

Re: Replacement of N800 wall charger? (Canada)

You should be able to find the iGo universal chargers in Canada. That's what I've got. My original Nokia chargers, car and wall, both failed.

My iGo's seem to be more robust, or at least I...

Re: 16 GB: 4th class Kingston or 6th class A-Data

I have all A-Data SD and SDHC cards. I've had one 4GB SD card fail within a year, and they replaced it. I also had a 8GB SDHC card that failed after 18 months, but I'm probably pretty hard on them....

Re: Poll: I am going to buy the n900 no matter what!!

Well, since we know it will be OMAP 3 or whatever, it'll be down to price and software. At this rate, the new device will have a few respectable competitors, using similar hardware. Unless I'm just...

Kingston Data Traveler 100 16GB draws too much power

I picked up a Kingston Data Traveler 100 16GB, on sale. I was thinking that, with my OTG adapter, I'd be able to plug it right in.

Wrong. It apparently draws to much power. It works fine, when...

Re: Shared Folders Problem

I use Wizard Mounter to mount my samba shares. They don't show up on their own, for whatever reason.

Re: N800 rebooting when in pocket

I'd try reformating your sd cards. If canola is hitting a corrupted song, that could cause a reboot.

Re: Religion?

You're free to use whatever words you want. That was my point. If you don't like the social consequences of your actions, that's irrelevant to the fact that there are no criminal consequences....

Re: Religion?

Yeah, if you think freedom of speech is freedom from being considered offensive or foolish, you're missing the point, entirely, ioan.

As Karel pointed out, in other countries you can and will be...

Re: What is your religion?

I prefer the term irreligious, since athiest in the U.S. have begun to proselytize as bad as any Mormon or Jehovah's Witness I've ever met.

Wtf, guys? Seriously... "Be careful when you fight the...

Re: anti glare films on N800

That's the one downside to any screen protector. The display is slightly diffused.

I've heard that applying the screen protector in a steamy bathroom helps keep the dust down.

I'm still on my...

Re: ANNOUNCE: Easy Debian Turbo-Charged Edition!

Yeah, free-space isn't the issue.

I've been using my N800 to transfer data to my SD cards, and my cards often get "corrupted" when transfering multiple GBs of small files; audio, images, etc.

Re: ANNOUNCE: Easy Debian Turbo-Charged Edition!

Yeah, it may be time to reformat my SD cards. The file checks out with winrar.

Re: ANNOUNCE: Easy Debian Turbo-Charged Edition!

That seems to have solved it. The file is extracting on my tablet, as I write this. Thanks! :D

I need to sit down and become more familiar with apt-get. ;)

Edit: Arg, it's stopped at 461MB and...

Re: just ordered n800

Youtube's player works fine. You just need to let the video load before playing. If you try to play the video while streaming the data, it is choppy. I haven't tried MyTube, but I don't find myself...

Re: ANNOUNCE: Easy Debian Turbo-Charged Edition!

I copied the tar file to my desktop machine, and unpacked the ext file with winrar. Then I copied the ext file back to the sd card.

I think I've borked maemo bzip, or whatever it's called....

Re: ANNOUNCE: Easy Debian Turbo-Charged Edition!

Huh, the image installer couldn't untar/unzip the package. I extracted the ext file on a different machine, moved it back, and all is well, though. I must have broken something, lol.

Nice,...

I've got one of those. It's a huge improvement over the naked screen, in sunlight.

Re: N800 Swivel OTG Adapters

I finally got around to ordering one. Yay! I'm traveling this Thanksgiving (U.S.), I just migrated my desktop to a 500GB drive, and I threw the old 80GB drive in an enclosure. It's a perfect storm,...

Re: Next Nokia tablet definitely has 3G

Eh, I'll never use 3G. I don't even have a data plan, and at the rates they charge here, I don't want one.

I had the same opinion on GPS and WiMax. Don't forget the kitchen sink, too, guys. ;) As...
