If you're a power user (or a noob playing with complex stuff :p) you'll need the USB port sooner or later, specially when the phone goes into a constant reboot loop. Besides it's obvious functions...

I don't know if you you need to press u while booting but, have you tried to connect your N900 via USB in PC Suite mode?

Have you tried to update through the app manager?

I missed the 64 bit...

It doesn't work here either. Just switch the phone's language to US english and it should work. At least it worked for me
