Maybe closing the QBuffer at the end of nextTree method instead at the beginning could do the trick, I'll test it.

mmm, I made this a while ago, I put some network read function in a separated thread (so the gui doesn't freeze when there is some connection problem) and validated the socket connection if is valid...

I had a problem very similar to what described totalizator, I posted about it some time ago. The "anti-battery draining patch" or 100% cpu usage patch solves...

Works well for me, maybe you are missing some library (libconfig, libreadline, libssl, are required). No need to use another device to register, registration works on this client.

Maybe Jabber could add an optional telephone number as id, I think this is the key of the success of Whatsapp, an easy way to find and add your contacts.

Not much progress so far, I've been mostly looking into the command line client source to see how can I reuse it. It will take some time, I work on it on my spare time.

I think Whatsapp gained it's popularity because you don't need a new id to add your contacts (the phone number is used as id) so if people are to migrate they would choose some similar app.
