Re: WTB: Sony Xperia X F5121

Are you saying that by not buying four Sailfish X phones I can save enough to not buy an iPhone?

Re: The Zero Terminal (Portable Pi Zero W)

My wife had a netbook once. Not an Eee but an AA1 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acer_Aspire_One). It came with 512MB RAM and an 8GB SSD, probably the slowest there ever was. I upgraded the RAM to...

Re: WTB: Sony Xperia X F5121

It's not 50. It's at least 250. 200 for the phone + 50 for the OS. 250 I do not have for a toy I do not need... does not sound like a bargain.

Re: Linux on Galaxy...

I consider myself a bit less ideological and more pragmatic. I use my N900 as my daily and I also feel its limitations, but to me they are not in the proprietary bits but in the hardware. No amount...

Re: WTB: Sony Xperia X F5121

I abandoned the idea of Sailfish X a long time ago. At the current rate of progress I am a smidgen away from abandoning Sailfish altogether.

Sailfish reminds me of the old Socialist joke about the...

Re: Linux on Galaxy...

I do not have a problem with that. Everything comes to an end at some point, you cannot expect old devices being supported forever.

Re: 2.1.2 / Kiiminkijoki

My first observation: an absolutely appalling battery drain without a network connection.

Initial conditions: Jolla 1, no SIM card, WiFi on.
Environmental conditions: 2 days at a resort with a...

2.1.2 / Kiiminkijoki

Re: Swipe down--what are these things?

Is that why they removed the silence quick action? To force you to use an ambiance to achieve the same thing? Sneaky!

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

That is interesting. I have tried every mobile browser under the sun including on my kids' Android tablets and ended up returning to Sailfish Browser with the tail between my legs every single time....

Re: Swipe down--what are these things?

Exactly, Dave! I for one have changed an ambiance exactly once. When I replaced the stock wallpaper with my own photo. Never used any of Jolla's supplied alternative ambiances.

Jolla seems to...

Re: End of Skype support coming soon?

Can Linphone make video calls to Skype clients? If not, then it is about as useful to me as a warm blanket to a corpse.

Re: Should I buy new N810 ten years after release?

No wonder then that they crashed and burnt like that. Users do not expect a new OS with every HW model release. They expect continuity. Most old Windows XP apps still work in Windows 10. Old Android...

Re: WTB: Sony Xperia X F5121

To be honest, I have been seriously considering it. For my daughter, not me. Any potential SIM lock can probably be overcome so that may not be an issue. But she does not like the square edges.

Re: Jolla claims Tablet refunds 80% finished

This is where the common misconception comes from.

Did you purchase the tablet from the Jolla's website? In that case indeed, you are entitled to a refund. I suppose there may have been a handful...

Re: WTB: Sony Xperia X F5121

I guess so. To be fair, I saw Xperia X Compact in a shop just this last Saturday. It looked great and cost only 200, but it was a PAYG deal and probably SIM locked. I did not ask. I did not see any...

Re: WTB: Sony Xperia X F5121

Let me get this straight. You walked into a brick-and-mortar shop and bought a brand new Sony Xperia X? Where? As far as I know, they are a discontinued product not available anywhere except for some...

Re: Jolla claims Tablet refunds 80% finished

No. In accordance with the law, you have the right to receive a big fat zero. It is Jolla's good will (and PR) that they offered any refund at all.

No matter how many times this is stressed, some...

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

She has an Android 5.1 tablet :p. The 2.3 is a phone and yes, it is about replacing it.

Yes, I was thinking about the rose gold. But not X, it is waaaay too large. X Compact is better but she...
