Re: Maemo-Leste pre-alpha announcement

Sorry I haven't been very active recently, I'm hoping to find some time to pick things up again soon. If I can collaborate at all with the Nexus 5 port, please let me know. :)

Re: 2016/2017 coding competition notice

Agreed. Right now we have Search and Advanced Search (internal) and also Power Search (external). Are you suggesting we get rid Power Search or replace it with some other internal search?

I'm...

Re: 2016/2017 coding competition notice

Can we not switch to another search provider? One whose business objective isn't to collect as much data as possible on every individual on the planet?

Re: First thoughts concerning Plasma Mobile and Ubuntu Touch on Nexus 5

I'm not trying to start a debate on which OS is more open. It sounded to me like ajalkane wasn't 100% aware of the latest Maemo developments which is why I posted. endsormeans mentioned several...

Re: First thoughts concerning Plasma Mobile and Ubuntu Touch on Nexus 5

Either I missed the news that Sailfish opened up their GUI and Silica components, or perhaps you missed the news that Maemo is on its way to version 7. The only proprietary parts in Maemo 7 are...

Re: Chrome OS Will Run Linux Apps

The thing is, what makes an app native? The kernel running on all of these devices is Linux. It's just different layers in userspace that define whether these apps are native or not. If Google...

Re: Maemo-Leste pre-alpha announcement

There has been some talk of an AArch64 port of Maemo Leste. We'll need to ensure all of the packages build for this architecture. AArch64 CPUs should be backward compatible with ARMv7 so feel free...

Re: GPD Pocket

The higher res screen (1920x1200), 2048 pressure point stylus (probably why they removed the trackpoint), µUSB slot and lower price would also be nice additions over the GPD Pocket, although I have...

Re: Maemo-Leste pre-alpha announcement

The guide is now on the wiki (https://leste.maemo.org/Main_Page#N9.2FN950). It also mentions a couple of alternative methods for if you don't want to repartition your eMMC.

Re: Maemo-Leste pre-alpha announcement

If you have ubiboot installed then you're already halfway there. There is a new version ubiboot but it isn't required as Leste is booted without an initrd. The new ubiboot does however now include...

Re: Maemo-Leste pre-alpha announcement

My interest in the Nexus 5 piqued when I found out that someone got calls working on it with mainline Linux shortly after Droid 4 calls started working (probably no coincidence that both devices use...

Re: Nintendo Switch Runs Linux

Indeed. I don't disagree with you at all. I haven't bought a new games console since the GameCube (2001) because I generally don't agree with the practices of console manufacturers. The...

Re: Nintendo Switch Runs Linux

I think you are missing the point here. Nobody is saying to go out and buy a games console for the sole purpose of running Linux. Of course there are plenty of other devices better suited to that. ...

Re: "Nokia N9 Rising From the Grave?"

Indeed. :D The real N9 revival is Maemo 7. It's been available for the N9 for a few days now (https://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=1543641&postcount=82) but I still haven't received feedback from...

We now have Maemo Leste builds for the N950 and N9 (https://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=1543641&postcount=82) running with mainline Linux plus a few patches so I thought it would be a good time to...
