Re: N900 -- looking into spare MUGEN cover or other 3D-SCAD/STL File for printing backcover

Not wanting to discourage you from your back cover search but how long is your battery lasting?

A normal size battery is fine for me as a daily user, but everyone different.

Few things to...

Re: [Announce] CSSU devel, it may eat your brain

I agree it would be nice if apt worked like other distros but it has never been that way. I don't believe apt could be removed due to to HAM depending on it.

Interestingly apt in maemo is a...

Re: [Announce] CSSU devel, it may eat your brain

Packages on Maemo have never been designed to be installed with apt.
Hildon application manager has built in features to limit any damage to the system which is why HAM is the only recommended way...

Re: [Announce] modRana: a flexible GPS navigation system

Sorry. I do apologise, it would appear the terminal fills up so fast the error was well off the screen. Only testing again and outputting to file did I spot this.

ImportError: No module named...

Re: [Announce] modRana: a flexible GPS navigation system

There is no error output it acts as if the route button isn't there and tapping route again just zooms the map.

Re: [Announce] modRana: a flexible GPS navigation system

Some quick feedback can't seem to get offiline routing working again. Installed the monav_data folders as required but no luck.
Anyway to debug whats wrong? Google routing seems fine.

Re: [Announce] modRana: a flexible GPS navigation system

I have removed the old version of modRana and now solved the issue above by removing my .maps file.
Tiles are now redownloading and populating the screen.
I will give it a test over the next few...

Re: [Announce] modRana: a flexible GPS navigation system

N900. Well there is only 0.53.1 available in the repos so I assume you have that installed from github or the like manually?

I am now having exactly the same issue with the installed version so...

Re: [Announce] modRana: a flexible GPS navigation system

Ok so I have had a few minutes to pull the latest master on to my device. It starts up as you expect with default settings, however I have no access to any maps. Just Loading and Downloading tiles...

Re: [Announce] modRana: a flexible GPS navigation system

Just checked out the the package status.
While the infra can be ... difficult, nothing seems to be wrong with the promotion of your package.
It would appear you have promoted it from Development to...

Re: SSU Stable or Testing

I would still say stable is the go to for new users and LTS.
That being said most regulars use Testing on there daily drivers.
Do consider that Testing will replace some packages with FOSS clones...

Re: [Announce] modRana: a flexible GPS navigation system

I have been seeing a lot of activity on github for this project lately, this is great.
However, I noticed no new packages for Maemo in a while. I assumed maybe you where working on getting the QT5...

Re: N900 semi-crash

A backup would be the only true way to recover from this type of thing.
The default backup tool would recover most of this stuff if you had a backup. Backupmenu is also another option again this is...

Re: Neo900 - finally a successor of N900

Proto_v2 is still being worked on in Kicad by ahycka at the moment.
As the comments mention above, most discussion is on IRC now due to limited resources to get updates to other sources.

Re: N900 viable daily phone or is nostalgia clouding my memory?

FWIW I use my N900 for communication all the time, calls, texts, MMS are probably the most used things after the media player and the GPS.

All these work perfectly well for me, most returning...

Anyone tried the new version from Devel?
Doesn't seem to start, wondered if it was just me?

Re: Theoretical lifetime of N900 if I take good care of it ?

2038? Could be a reasonable response to such an open question.
This is if no components fail in the mean time and spares are available to replace wearables like batteries.
