Using tags its much faster so less interruption. When you have your own time you can add people to contacts. I just hate people who start fiddling their gadgets right middle of meeting.

Put them into your contacts, together with photo and details :) You dont't need 'an app for that', as the N900 is no dumbphone (SCNR)

You could use the Photo app and set names of the people as tags or alternatively as the title for pictures and put the project in the description field.
