Re: [Announce] Mokomaze - great opensource Labirynth clone ported to N900

I think the game calibrates the accelerometer at the start, so if you have the device tilted that creates an artificial flat plane which is different to the table top. Try pausing the game and...

Re: [Announce] Faenza for N900 - Icon pack

I think distributing it in a gpl licensed package is dubious unfortunately. Plus, it isn't immediately obvious (unless you know your logos) that it relates to display properties. Why not use...

Re: [Announce] Faenza for N900 - Icon pack

Nice work, however the 'display' icon in the first screenshot looks very similar (identical actually) to the Nvidia logo, which I think is copyrighted. If so, it should be swapped with a graphic that...

Re: [Help] sSudo password for maemo?

If sudo gainroot works then you don't need to use sudo before other commands, you are already root. You can test this by entering "sudo gainroot" and then "whoami". It should respond with "root".

Re: N900 chess engine strength (?)

As far as the backlight goes, installing the simple brightness applet gives a control to keep the backlight on. I found that out when sensitive motion (the game) was giving me similar problems.

Re: Dump evopedia urgent help for installation

Are you sure you have the whole dump and not just part of it or the torrent file. The English dump should be around 10 GB if you have the full thing.

Re: [ANNOUNCE] The First N900 Coding Competition! 21st May-21st July. Open to all!

Kojacker, your handling of this has been exceptional. I hope this competition can now conclude on the high-note that it deserves to.

And congratulations to all the winners as well of course.

Re: Evopedia Qt

I like the new Qt ui a lot, it feels a lot more responsive then the old version. The actual browsing of articles in MicroB can be a bit painful however since it will occasionally refuse to open...

Re: Evopedia Qt

I know this is an alpha version, but I thought I'd report a couple of issues that I found anyway.

Whilst offline, there are repeated requests to select a network while browsing articles. This can...

Re: Evopedia Qt

Just in case anyone runs into the same problems as me, put the binary into your home/user/ directory, not Mydocs, and run

chmod +x evopediaqt

to make it executable. Apparently Mydocs is a...

Re: [Announce] case - the N900 file manager

On linux file systems, files or folders starting with a period are 'hidden'. I'm guessing it's the same here. They're mostly configuration files and the like.

Re: [ANNOUNCE] The First N900 Coding Competition! 21st May-21st July. Open to all!

Just donated €22, so hopefully €20 after fees.

On another note, I had hoped to contribute something small app-wise to this competition. I made a couple of small python scripts for...

Re: Making a Hello World

Instead of using scratchbox, you could go down the python Qt route instead. See, for example this (http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=54380&highlight=fart) thread and links within.

I've been...

Re: Help regarding repositorys.

I was having trouble with them a couple of days ago, but at the moment I can connect ok. Based on that i don't think the adresses have changed. Wish I could say something more useful.

Re: [Testing Squad] - June 2010 - We need testers!

I'm slightly concerned that there is too much emphasis being placed on getting the queue cleared and not enough on ensuring that the testing process is rigourous.

Every person voting an app up...

Re: Poll: how to vote for themes in Extras Testing queue

Is this (http://wiki.maemo.org/Py2deb) the script we're talking about here? From reading the wiki page page it sounds like it's also the source of many of the broken bugtracker links in testing.

Re: Poll: how to vote for themes in Extras Testing queue

I don't know anything about the scripts we're discussing here, but the best solution would seem to be to get them fixed. Otherwise we're just avoiding the real problem and possibly causing another...

Re: Poll: how to vote for themes in Extras Testing queue

I think the first question is whether the maintainer can do anything to make the themes optified or whether it is out of their control somehow (problems with the autobuilder etc.)

If they can do...

Re: [ANNOUNCE] The First N900 Coding Competition! 21st May-21st July. Open to all!

This competition is a fab idea, I wish everyone involved the best of luck with it. I'd like to chip in with £20 towards the prize fund.

I'd also like to contribute an application. I'll try and...

I don't think it has to be flashy for the competition, as far as I know it doesn't even have to be particularly useful. I think the idea is to stimulate more interest amongst the community in...
