Re: [Fun/Learning] Root access on freshly flashed N900 using on-device tools only

If anything I would say things that could be easily fixed are repairing packages that depend on rootsh or sudser, as a priority.
Long term I would like to see a more secure root in Maemo, thanks for...

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Alpha release of Open Media Player

Having the odd issue with OMP lately.
It's a bit of a vague bug report, as I haven't had time to try and pin it down.
It seems to be related to removing the headset, I'll be listening to music and...

Re: Disable autostart of Camera App?

It's seems most are using the dsmetool -k. I don't believe another method has been found.
camera-ui2 should not need to use any killing method as it replaces the camera-ui, in that instance....

Re: [Split] ...maybe we should start another thread about package managers

Different voters have different effects on the voting threshold.
It's sort of broken as is much of the stuff around garage.
I believe it should be 10 "normal" votes or 6 votes if a dev or special...

Re: [Split] ...maybe we should start another thread about package managers

I think you will find it's still 10 actually.

Also there is no "myth busting", just a interesting discussion about HAM's superior features.

Re: [ANNOUNCE] CSSU-thumb thread - stable Thumb2 on N900

Obviously HAM is "recommended", however, you will find that apt-get dist-upgrade is the command if you want to completely cause chaos.
Now you are on thumb you should have the patched super fast...

Re: [Announce] modRana: a flexible GPS navigation system

I don't remember RPM packages, I have installed modRana on Ubuntu.
The source is here so you can build it yourself.

Re: CSSU FIASCO Image

@MentalistTraceur
Maybe part of your wall of text was more suited to this thread ;)
http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=90862

clock-ui and camera-ui2 are in CSSU-T.
OMP isn't in CSSU so it...

Re: [Announce][Fremantle] FlopSwap - Swap GUI Management

Yes, it is possible that you can see the swap used during the swapon/off cycle.

However, a quick test shows you maybe right and that a check should be done after a refresh to reset the statusbar....

Re: [Announce][Fremantle] FlopSwap - Swap GUI Management

Yep I agree

Not in the latest version, this is just recommended.
In stock Maemo the first partition must be FAT for the card to be used for storage, this is why the partitions 2/3 are...

Re: dbus xmpp message detection?

Maybe you could add any commands you get working to the wiki page, if you get time.

OOI what are you using to send XMPP messages from your alarm?

Re: N900 not booting up when charger's in it

The N900 needs to be "on" to charge. this means a completely dead battery will not charge in the device.
"on" doesn't necessarily mean booted up BTW, there is a state called "ACT_DEAD" in which, the...

Re: Problem with Application Manager catlog on N900

We need to see some output.
Problems Tab?
Application list?
Catalogues List?

I wouldn't rule out hardware failure either.

Re: [Announce] CSSU stable release

CSSU-Devel is not advertised anywhere as a general usage repository. It is ONLY for developers to share potentially unstable packages quickly.

CSSU repos follow the same warnings as Extras.

Correct. I had forgotten about that yes.
Not a major issue I agree, I'll just add a few extra sleep commands in there to space the banners out in the next release.

Re: [NEEDED] Appealing ideas for next CSSU

None of these are vital system components so wouldn't be covered under CSSU.

1) Use a different browser, hopefully with some love, QML browser will be a good replacement in the future.

2) IMO...

* Add Last Updated label
* Minor Fixes
* Tidy Portrait Layout

I more polished and slightly more tested...
