dh-python would build. It only needs python3-minimal which we don't have...

does dh-python manage the modules? The python-central management would help us with some work - we wouldn't have to port...

I installed no other python2.7 than from the repos. Look at wiki.maemo.org/User:Marmistrz for approximation of my setup and the list of packages pastebin somewhere in this thread.

And do you have modrana installed? Maybe the offending egg causes pycentral to create modules for 2.7?

malfunctioning, wazrus: beside this, choose yourself an "essential" package from the list so that we're ready to go once python2.7 installation bug has been fixed.

It is pycentral. After installing python2.7 back, it shows a load of files which are the ones in /usr/lib/python2.7

If exists /usr/lib/python2.7 then
move /usr/lib/python2.7
make it a symlink

/usr/lib/python2.7 $ ls dist-packages/

But Ovi Maps can't download maps anymore... Maybe we could put the old gecko somewhere else and edit the nokia maps code (it's html) to use the new location?

Or we might temporarily drop Ovi Maps...

Not only. one of the python3 packages provides for example python3.mk, which is used by debian/rules of python packages. Of course it gives this "python3" command. It's all I can give you off the top...
