Is there a way to display the 'day of the week' next the date in the list of events? For example, in ddd format, Mon, Tue, Wed, and so on.

Some networks block ICMP, so that the ping command used by the UPDATER script to test connectivity fails.
A solution is to manually edit the script and change www.google.com to 127.0.0.1, so that...
