Re: NBC Olympics.com is Silverlight 2 only. Sigh.

Read this recent interview with Miguel:

regarding implementing Silverlight and codecs. Microsoft will be offering codecs via it's website separately....

Re: Something Ive always wanted in a PMP

not in any PMP that I know, but foobar has this. You just right click on the next song you want to play and select "add to playback queue".

Is there a program that will allow the tablets to act as bluetooth remotes?

Re: Microsoft Silverlight Coming to the Internet Tablet

Sorry, I misunderstood you. I do understand the difference between bundled applications and OS components.

Silverlight 2.0 implements the same version of the CLR as .NET 3.0. The included...

Re: Microsoft Silverlight Coming to the Internet Tablet

I don't see why it would need to attach to the underlying OS. It should just act as a browser plugin (possible with install of a lite VM to run .Net code).

Re: Microsoft Silverlight Coming to the Internet Tablet

Now that I think about it some more, I doubt that MS can do what it has done in the past again. The OSS community seems to be much strong, thanks in no small part to companies like Google, who use it...

Re: Microsoft Silverlight Coming to the Internet Tablet

Netscape was a slow-*** p.o.s. IE was better than Netscape. MS got complacent with IE and then Firefox came and kicked their asses all over the web. If Silverlight on mobile devices works out, then...

Re: Microsoft Silverlight Coming to the Internet Tablet

Soooo, how many third party Flash implementations are there? Oh, wait, none.
It's not 1995, you can drop the stupid "M$", it's not hip anymore.
So what if they destroy Adobe. Screw Adobe. Any...

Re: Microsoft Silverlight Coming to the Internet Tablet

Flash is a dog. I, for one, welcome our silverlight overlords. As far as "openness" is concerned, Adobe is not exactly the paragon of OSS and openness. I've never seen any third party Flash...

Re: Silverlight on NIT?

Moonlight is written by Miguel de Icaza from Novel. Since Novel and Microsoft have signed that interoperability agreement, Moonlight can probably be considered the official Linux port of Silverlight.

Re: can't ping anthing on the network using hostname

huh, well, I stuck my computername in the hosts file, and that seemed to work. I can get my password protected SMB shares now. I'm still curious about the name resolution, though.
In a similar...

Re: can't ping anthing on the network using hostname

huh, interesting. It's just a home network, I have some Vista machines on a wireless router, nothing fancy. I can resolve anything on the internet fine (ie. google.com), it's just resolving the local...

can't ping anthing on the network using hostname

I can't ping anything on my lan from my N810 using the hostname. Pinging by IP address works out fine. When I follow the instructions in this thread on SMB...
