Re: Maemo 5 PR1.1 released today (January 14)

Run 'apt-get clean'. Wipes all the downloaded .deb packages.

Re: PR1.1 and Adblock Plus

Thanks! That fixed it for me. I knew somebody here would have the answer!

Re: PR1.1 and Adblock Plus

How weird. That's the same thing I did, effectively (flashed new firmware then manually reinstalled ABP). No change after a reinstall and two reboots. Well, I guess I'll contact the developer and...

PR1.1 and Adblock Plus

Anyone else noticed that Adblock Plus is not working with the updated browser in the new firmware? It doesn't show up under "Add-ons" anymore. I wonder what could be causing the incompatibility.

Re: MicroB easter egg?

I have it. Ctrl-shift-o does nothing.

Re: MicroB easter egg?

That doesn't do anything for me. The only thing I've done is install adblock plus.

I'm wondering, how did you find this out?

Re: Maemo 5 PR1.1 released today (January 14)

I got the same message (twice). I chose "rename" but I couldn't really tell if that was the right thing to do.

Re: Maemo 5 PR1.1 released today (January 14)

Thanks for that info.

The big one is apparently some kind of kernel bug involving OMAP power management triggering watchdog timeouts. Do you know if this has been fixed?

Re: Maemo 5 PR1.1 released today (January 14)

That's true, good point. Patience is a virtue!

That's what I'd like to know, too. It's not mentioned in the changelog on the wiki. Not a good sign.

Re: Nokia's policy on whether changing the N900 firmware violates warranty

Nokia USA just gave me a replacement under warranty and I had flashed the phone right before sending it back to them. So regardless of official policy, for Nokia USA at least they don't appear to be...

Re: Rebooting quick-fix

The cpu will still go to sleep while the device is charging, so I don't see that as a valid test of anything.

What we're dealing with here is not a problem with the watchdog. That's just the...

Re: N900- Rearange menu? Change browser homescreen?

I too found it annoying that it opens up to bookmarks (since that window remains open). Just put this into a file called something like web.desktop in /usr/share/applications/hildon and then add a...

Re: Pianobar port - command line Pandora client

This is great! Thank you very much.

By the way, here is a link to the manpage:

Sadfist, if you saved the file to the root...

Re: How to search through my N900?

Unfortunately that doesn't work. It looks like it is currently limited to a prefix search.

Olympus, if you'd like to help you could create a brainstorm requesting that the mediaplayer UI be open...

Re: HelloWorld on Device

Just use apt-get install. No need for special instructions. Who knows how old the content on the garage site is.

Re: Clarification sought : using the N900 as a BT modem from a Windows laptop ?...

Do you see frequent hangups causing you to have to reconnect every 10 minutes or so? I haven't installed the package that enables DUN yet, but just set up the connection using the command line (with...

Re: HelloWorld on Device

I don't know why the Nokia forum site decided to do their helloworld in C++ when every program that comes with the device is written in C.

You're right- it just doesn't ship with certain libraries...

Re: HelloWorld on Device

Could you give your gcc compile command string and the output of 'ldd helloworld'?

I have never had to use run-standalone.sh. Don't run your program as root though.

Re: Clarification sought : using the N900 as a BT modem from a Windows laptop ?...

I got this working with XP after a fair bit of fiddling with it. It sounds like you've made it through all the hard parts and just need to set your modem init string. You go into control panel,...

Re: MAEMO 5 QT, trying a simple QT app to display battery percentage

Yeah, kwotski has found just the function you need to use. Go with this method and then you won't need to use a QProcess, so that solves your other problem too.

Re: How to compile on Maemo 5?

No, it all works fine. It just eats up most of your disk space and runs really slow.

Re: How to compile on Maemo 5?

It is possible. You have to add the SDK repos and then apt-get install gcc, make, autoconf, etc. But it's not a very good idea because it will fill up most of the root filesystem even with nothing...

Re: New Developers/coders? Help!!?!

Yeah they're in the scratchbox set up by the SDK. Try running '/scratchbox/login' to enter the SDK and then run 'apt-get full-upgrade'.
