Re: cryptsetup: encrypted filesystem on your N900

/dev/random blocks until more entropy can be gathered

On the N900, producing even 1 kilobyte of random data with /dev/random takes ages (it just sits there waiting for environment "noise")

Re: Questions to Maemo/Nokia Dev Team N900

You can't be serious. Tons of companies have these people called community representatives. Their job is to convey information from end users to developers/management and vice versa.

As Corso85...

Re: How to Distribute? (TrueCrypt, Cifs.ko, ntfs.ko, mount.cifs)

I'm aware of that. However, when the 256MB of ram is depleted "unused" pages get transferred to swap. That could be background processes or apps you might have running and with them, the potential of...

Re: How to Distribute? (TrueCrypt, Cifs.ko, ntfs.ko, mount.cifs)

How can encryption coexist with swap? Say you open a lot of apps and the result is that encrypted data (now unencrypted in memory) is moved to /dev/mmcblk0p3.

I know I'm being too paranoid here...

Re: Elasto Mania. Is it Possible?

Close to impossible since its compiled for x86.

As for emulation/virtualization, its dog slow on a 600mhz ARM cpu and you can currently only run dos applications.

Re: why is the n900 partitioned like it is?

Partitioning is terrible, indeed. You can change some things around but you're stuck with the VFAT partition as some apps will refuse to work without it.

Should have been rootfs 1 GB/ rest 31 GB...

Re: Make the phone charge without disconnecting usb after mass storage

It works but N900 notification at the top is stuck at mass storage mode, even though it is unmounted. (tested on Ubuntu 9.04)

Re: More testers needed to push apps out of extras-testing

Doesn't help that the website is being ran on a 286.

Re: [Sandbox] Protecting private content when lending device

eCryptfs would work great for this kind of stuff. Stacked filesystem, dont need to mess around with partitions, just mount your encrypted stuff whenever you want to use it.

It is a kernel module....

Re: Can we expect IMAP IDLE on n900?

Agreed.
Do we really have to pester people to "vote" for bugs in order for nokia to add functionality that should have been implemented in the first place?

Re: My First Video shot with N900

N900 video is ok, just needs a couple of software tweaks and it will be excellent (image stabilization & 25fps without dropped frames). The hardware is definitely there.

Re: Has anyone from the Maemo team actually responded to any bugs?

It would be great if we could get some info from the devs on what is currently being worked on, ETA on next firmware, etc.
