Re: iPhone 5S (iOS 7.1.1): The Journey Continues

Here are some article I find very telling, iPhone 3GS with whatever old version of iOS vs N900, N900 wins, hands down, that's why I bought one in 2008. But times have changed:

Re: iPhone 5S (iOS 7.1.1): The Journey Continues

That's where I have to disagree with you. If you wish to claim that the Maemo running on the N900 is enough to be consider a "computer in your pocket" but the iPhone 5S running iOS 7.1 jailbroken is...

Re: iPhone 5S (iOS 7.1.1): The Journey Continues

You misunderstood me, I meant everyone that is a developer/geek/hacker/whatever. As far as upgrading the hardware, you could always mirror your device to a large display with a cable but from the...

Re: iPhone 5S (iOS 7.1.1): The Journey Continues

If there is something to write about then sure, but until I have had it for at least 6 months I wouldn't feel confident giving my opinion to a community full of developers on the subject.

Re: iPhone 5S (iOS 7.1.1): The Journey Continues

I agree to an extent but you seem to overlook a few points:

1) Nokia was #1 followed by RIM, not anymore, there are reasons for the weather you want to admit them or not. The vast majority of...

Re: iPhone 5S (iOS 7.1.1): The Journey Continues

Are you running Android on your Note 2? As I believe you can run a few other OSes on there. Is it rooted? How do you find it in comparison with the openness of the N900?

Re: iPhone 5S (iOS 7.1.1): The Journey Continues

I was mistaken about the cable, I don't recall what came in the box in November 2008. I don't see how it has this huge relevance.

Yes, that is a good idea and a not so good idea. I think there...

Re: iPhone 5S (iOS 7.1.1): The Journey Continues

I don't know about price...

2) jail broken you can zip and transfer files straight from the device, you can run midnight commander, you have a lot more power than you have been led to believe.

Re: iPhone 5S (iOS 7.1.1): The Journey Continues

This is where you and a good portion of this community disagree. You mean to tell me that the iPhone and iOS is not a valid platform for developers simply because it is intended for the masses. I can...

Re: iPhone 5S (iOS 7.1.1): The Journey Continues

Stop acting childish, the N900 TV adapter was sold separately and was not cheap either. Your argument fails.

Re: iPhone 5S (iOS 7.1.1): The Journey Continues

This is the ideology I am trying to dispel (as well as with Android). For some reason there is this belief that Apple products are extraordinarily limited (and Android a bit less). There is a screen...

I have the N900 property TV out cable. Your claims are simply not true.

Re: iPhone 5S (iOS 7.1.1): The Journey Continues

Even if Jolla was an option for me (which it's not, I am in North America) I don't think I would trade my iPhone for it for a few reasons.

Re: iPhone 5S (iOS 7.1.1): The Journey Continues

I made it quite clear. I believe that there is a stigma among many people as the iPhone being very limited, I had that perception when I purchased my 4S, expecting to return it within 30 days. When I...

Re: iPhone 5S (iOS 7.1.1): The Journey Continues

That's a lovely alternate reality you live in, your internet, cellular, electric are all controlled by corporations. I assume you have a bank account as well. The only difference between you and I is...

Re: iPhone 5S (iOS 7.1.1): The Journey Continues

Upon purchase of my iPhone 5S I was initially disappointed on how poor voice recognition was, but then when I upgraded my 4S from 6.x to 7, I noticed the same problem, night and day. Thus leading me...

Re: iPhone 5S (iOS 7.1.1): The Journey Continues

I feel much of the N900 community has the same mentality as George R. R. Martin:

A huge qualm I had with the N900 was no spell checking, and I think that is a huge...

Re: iPhone 5S (iOS 7.1.1): The Journey Continues

Then no, I do not believe so. It's Apple. From the start of my journey two years ago I stated I disliked the company and many of their practices.

If you jailbreak your device I am sure it is...

Re: iPhone 5S (iOS 7.1.1): The Journey Continues

While I don't agree with many of your points, I factually disagree with the above statement, after writing this I did find out there are a few phones on the market that seem to be so-so N900...

Re: iPhone 5S (iOS 7.1.1): The Journey Continues

Yes, Apple has coined that "Air Drop" and works very well, surprisingly. (I have always found many Bluetooth file transfers and connectivity to be finicky)

iPhone 5S (iOS 7.1.1): The Journey Continues

Please Note:

I purchased the Nokia N900 from the New York Flagship store within the week it was released, I used that phone for 4 years. I have traveled to South America and Europe using Maemo 5....

Re: iPhone 4S (iOS 5.1.1): A look back at the N900

How are you still not getting this?

With a PC you have a full 12"- display, at least 1600x900 pixels, you have a real full keyboard, a mouse with 3 (sometimes more) buttons. You also have a lot...

Re: iPhone 4S (iOS 5.1.1): A look back at the N900

Okay, first off no need for name calling

iFile = MC on iOS
Paros = wireshark on iOS.

I don't know much about WiFi cracking so research metasploit, photorec, and aircrack-ng. (all can be had on...
