Nokia 770 Internet Tablet
http://www.mobilegazette.com/nokia-7...net-tablet.htm
>>>The Nokia 770 is billed as an "Internet Tablet" - and in fact, it isn't a phone at all. However, it can be seen as a logical evolution to widescreen devices such as the Nokia 7710 Smartphone.

-- how in the world did I miss this?! The *slides* from the Linux World Expo 770 intro! But how can that be? There's a slide showing AbiWord and Plucker under Maemo! Wow! This is a 23-slide exegesis on the creation of the 770 and also includes all the names of the major open source components they used, plus the reason they chose Opera as the browser. I expect Reggie will plop this on the front page due to its importance!

>>>Fashionistas, take note! Nokia will start shipping its Nokia 8800 fashion phone, and it should appear at stores in a few months' time. The US version will be given the model number 8801, and I couldn't be bothered by the nuances in model numbers because it looks droolingly nice!

Nokia design chief stakes reputation on new cellphone design
http://www.dailyherald.com/business/...y.asp?id=80349
>>>In the late 1990s, Frank Nuovo was responsible for designing the phones that helped make Nokia Corp. the world’s biggest cellphone company. But in the past few years, with Nuovo as its chief of design, the company has slipped badly, missing some key style trends.
>>>Nuovo says the Nokia 8800 is intended to be a lasting design. “This product, five years from now, 10 years from now, it’s going to look great,” he says.
-- Memo to Frank: We don't *keep* tech that long. Things fall and break. We get tired of them. They lack the newest features. They stop being hep. Wake up. Or it's off to Royal Dutch Shell for you!

InterDigital, Nokia spat intensifies

>>>U.S. vendor InterDigital today reported that it has still not received the final award of between US$180-US$220 million it is seeking in a dispute with Finnish vendor Nokia over royalty payment obligations for GSM/TDMA and GSM/GPRS/TDMA patents. The International Chamber of Commerce had set a deadline of May 31 for the issue of a final award, but Nokia has failed to comply and has since filed a volley of eight separate legal actions involving InterDigital and certain 3G patents owned by Nokia.
-- Memo to Nokia: PAY UP! You can appeal and get it back later, *if* you win. Don't Be Like BillG!
