Lets not forget that there are other developers willing to help. Unfortunately many projects become less maintained due to developer interest or lack of use. If you want to give yourself less work then unfortunately the answer is to make it easier to foster a project out with documentation and a clear development route. Both aren't easy.

Bounties are a great way to spark interest and are often why people 'really' want to develop for a project. In other words, I'm all for bouties.
