I call it Debian-Based I was so glad that they didn't do a full on 'MeeGo' release, because MeeGo was/is using RPMs.

That really was the one thing that made me go "NOOOOOOOO!!"

While RPMs and yum are okay nowadays, back when I first started using Linux they absolutely stunk. At one point Connectiva even ported apt over for RPM (before Yum came out) but not that many places used it, even RedHat started to, but then they switched to Yum (YellowDog Update Manager, if I recall), so it seems they just didn't want to use apt-get goodness.

So really, Harmattan is more like Maemo6x than it is MeeGo 1.2.
