Maybe try upgrading using just_chroot.sh? But as freemangordon said, the problem of crashes may be the kernel itself. I will try to add nemo kernel install to the script. Are there "Ok" button on this dialog?

what kernel did you use? I assume it's revision 54, is it? I didn't try it with 11.10 images, so I'm happy it's working

Can you please add options from options/ folder? As in this post:
