Unfortunately the status bar does not show these changes until going into Settings -> Media sharing.
Yes, it is rygel and unfortunately also with the Helium app, the status bar doesn't notice if DLNA server is on or not...ths time you sometimes walk around with enabled DLNA server and don't notice it...
