Thought I'd share a cheap DIY method for anyone that already has a garmin nuvi style mount in their car or wants to use one as a vent or dashboard mount. I've been using this for a few years now.

Vent mount:

There are a few different kinds, what’s important about this one is that there are spring-loaded clips that ensure the mount won’t just slide off after a few months of use. The N9 and this assembly seem to be light enough that they won’t break the vents on my Honda Accord, and I can still move the airflow switch.

This is cut down and attaches directly to the phone case with double sided tape, I’ve tried epoxy but it was unable to withstand heat and the phone+case ended up sliding off the clip. I had a roll of Scotch Permanent Outdoor Mounting tape and it has remained secure for 2 years in 90 degree+ weather.

The phone slips in and out of this case easily. Unfortunately, the cutouts were a little bit off on the back but they do not block the camera if you intend to use this as a dashcam. I ended up cutting this in half to make it easier to insert the phone and to avoid unnecessary stress on the right side hardware keys as a result of putting in/taking out the phone.

The finished product costs less than $10 USD (there may be cheaper sellers, I just picked ones that sold items that look the same as what I bought years ago). I don't have enough different devices that a universal holster would benefit me, and I am not really a fan of the mounts Proclip has for my car, so this ended up working out best for me. The vent mount is the most expensive part in this and it's reusable if I ever get another phone down the line.
