I faced exactly the same issue around 3 months ago. Probably after the update of a Community Kernel, but I'm not sure maybe that was a coincidence. All the updates of the app since that time did not help.

But I resolved it yesterday and the solution was very simple. Here it is:

1) remove the application
2) reboot
3) go to console
4) get root rights
5) launch MC
6) go to root directory
7) make a search on the mask *yappari*
8) delete everything found
9) reboot
10) install the application using repository
11) log in and enjoy!

I hope it will work for you too!

And great thanks for the author(s) of this app for making me believe that my lovely N900 is still alive! I'll make a donation in January, I promice
