I think the Samsung Z3 with Tizen could be an alternative...it has continuous input similar to Swype (see Tizen community), whatsapp is still developed (see tizenexperts.com), and...as a continuation of MeeGo, it's free

Unfortunatelly, it's only available in India at the moment
