1) It says under Maemo that it is not support yet,
Well, it works right from the browser. But i want to find a way so that
you can install it as some kind of home plugin.
At the moment i am only to dumb to develop one

2) Once downloaded and installed does it require an active internet connection to work?
That depends on the Mojos you have choosen. If you have a webcam
Mojo then it checks all two minutes for a new image.
The same will be soon for the newsfeed mojos.
But the rest, like clocks and calendars, should also work once
they are on the device.

The idea is to offer the service only for more or less "mobile" devices.
But i am also working on a way to have them right on your desktop.
