Thanks so much for your very thoughtful attempts to flesh out this strange issue. I have tried your suggestions (and many permutations) with my N800 and my Verizon LG VX8300 phone (non-pda) to no avail. I'm still unable to use the phone as a Bluetooth DUN with the N800, though it works perfectly with my MacBookPro. I have tried both with and without the /etc/ppp/options edit and have been met by complete and consistent failure.

I'm basically ready to give up on this, but it is the one main reason I got the N800 in the first place. If anyone is local in the San Jose, CA area and would like to try it out in person, I'd gladly spring for lunch/dinner or something.

BTW, I've also confirmed the bug that is mentioned with the Verizon connection not showing up in the connections list if the steps aren't followed in order.
