You're right, but unfortunately it's the Qt4.5 Fremantle styling that is off-base in this case, both for the height and the arrow issue (the arrow is a bit misleading, you don't have to click it, you can tap the whole dropdown element's surface). I will try some manual settings for the next releases to make it look a bit better.

The slider is for quick font navigation. It 'scrolls' through the fonts without opening the font dialogue. The use-case is for you to load a text, and then just use the slider to whizz through all the fonts and see which one fits your text best. There might be another, vertical slider in the future for quicker font size adjustments.
