Its a deb file with one binary in it so even if your on another distro you should still be able to run it providing you have the correct deps.
Running the latest version from Extras-devel.. Just added the repository and downloaded it(autobuilder seems to build a i386 version too). Here's the output from Terminal http://pastebin.com/CXUvXrZM . Will try your Ubuntu version.

EDIT: Ubuntu version looks better but no signs of action.
