Did you reboot after installing it?
Check if the daemon is running with
Code:
ps | grep volumecontroldaemon
You can also try to launch it from a terminal with
Code:
/usr/sbin/volumecontroldaemon -d
With the -d switch you'll see debug output in the terminal.
im not an expert with linux but when i type
Code:
ps | grep volumecontroldaemon
into xterminal i get
Code:
1796 user   2088 S grep volumecontroldaemon
back which i guess means it is running!

but its doing something (what i wanted in the first place) as headphone level is at 88% for media player and calls (it used to be 88% for media player and 48% for calls)
