i dont think that this baby will give you any gps information by the usb cable.
That's exactly the question.
It is a data cable (not only power).
What could be transmitted as data?
If we take the minimal supposition it would be the gps data.

But the gps data includes direction.

Couldn't it be that the gps directional data was supplied by the digital compass in the case that you are standing still?
