I had to google to find out what a "USB data card" is. Apparently that's ambiguous.
It can be a regular USB key in credit card format or a credit card writer with USB interface or even something different. So I think that should be made clear first.

As a rule of thumb:
Any device that's compatible with Linux kernel 2.6.28 and doesn't consume more than 200mA should work fine via H-E-N.
