It will get you root.

After that, follow this tutorial to move your app folder to the SD card (I made mine 2GB):

If you have problems with a software that doesn't want to install - unmount your SD card and try again (the secure containers on the card do not work for some reason)."

Also - for some reason you need to use HP SD formatter 2.0.6 to format your card before copying the firmware files - this is important...

I'm still trying to get MeeGo on it with limited success, there are some things missing from the original kernel which are needed for the newer framebuffer drivers and config or sources aren't available. I'll probably end up recompiling one of the drivers if I figure out how to get a full-blown ARM MeeGo emulator running (I really don't want to compile on the N900)...
