Yeah, IIRC webOS was already open sourced back when HP more or less dumped it (for generally bogus reasons).

So I guess this is open sourcing the work LG did on the codebase since then ? Could be interesting to know also the licensing history - eq. if they worked from the open-sourced codebase, which I guess would have to be licensed under something like BSD for this to work. Or if they basically bought a license for the original code, in which case they would not have to care about the open-source webOS license.
