I would vote for this: two USB ports. One port is a regular microUSB, capable of charging and acting as a "USB client". The other port could be a regular USB port (full size, maybe with a rubber cover) that could act in USB host mode.

Since the two ports (USB female and micro usb) are too different, there wont be much confusion. users won't be able to plug the host USB port into a host USB in any computer...

Would that regular USB footprint be too much?
