Macs are not that bad. Nokia has supported Mac's from early days. Flashers are available as well as some sort of Mac sync utility

But in short the problem is solved (just by rerunning the same command, without disturbing the usb connection).

I did follow this as per the wiki page

where it says

If flashing stops with "Write failed after 1048576 bytes usb_bulk_write: Resource temporarily unavailable", do not disconnect your N900 from usb and try again the flasher command.
In my case the error was different, but the solution worked.
