I don't think this is necessarily the right interpretation. Even the word "corrupt" may not be 100% appropriate, let alone "watch the world burn for entertainment", even though in effect that is exactly what they end up doing. I believe that in many (most?) instances the corruptors act with genuinely high intentions. They really believe that they are
improving
things. Examples: all those "must have this, must have that" comments to Neo900 and Livermorium, Libre vs Open Office, certain voting results I will not go deeper into as it would be in breach of posting rules here...
