A good decision!

Swiping from top is closing (as tioubxancur said).
Stay with WhatsUp (wazzapp is not maintained anymore).
Developer mode will enable you to tinker with your device, especially put a new icon in your menu named meego-terminal which opens a console just like on a normal PC and you can type almost all console commands and enhance (or wreck up ) your device.
