Thanks so much for typing that up!
Another VNC server / viewer for Windows is
RealVNC
. I prefer it because it handles the startup stuff for you (you don't have to put anything in your start folder) and runs as a service, so it will let you log in remotely.
But I use WinXP, I can't guarantee it works with later versions of Windows...
