Also, using USB Mode, after switching to "USB host mode (with boost)", which "stops BME", conky will read display some temperature, which also seems to have tenths of a degree Celsius (unlike in the uevent file); I have not applied any conky update of yours yet. Would you know how/why?

No idea about that strange temperature reading - I use usbmode with BME replacement (the latter all the time), so in my case, nothing is stopped.

Theoretizations in practice - it just meant that someone may do those changes I've described in practice. No, I haven't had to extract Conky's source code and look for it.
