Dear all,

I recently purchased a Nokia N9 as it was a real bargain because of slight scratches on the housing, so here I am: I'm a N900 addict trying a N9 but missing the numerous features we all listed dozen of times on these boards, including the physical keyboard of course.

I just tried the application named FingerTerm and found the virtual keyboard absolutely fantastic here. It has all the features I need on the same page (except it's a QWERTY and I need an AZERTY with accents...) and the keys are large enough for me to be almost as accurate and fast as with the N900 physical keyboard.

I understand this is probably a complete remake of the whole Terminal application, and not just an alternate virtual keyboard installed here, but I'm wondering whether it could be done? Would it be possible to use the FingerTerm VKB to replace the VKB in all other apps (at least in landscape mode), with the built in opacity feature? It would be so fantastic for me I could die in pure happiness just after trying it, I guess.

The default VKB in Harmattan is absolutely horrible to me. It is a pain to use it, despite several hours spent on it trying to familiarize myself with it, be it in Swype mode or not. I can't type anything efficiently with it. The FingerTerm one, even in QWERTY, would save me from a brain seizure, but of course any help to customize it into AZERTY would be welcome.

Anybody here with dev skills could tell if this would be feasible? I see that scrips exist to change the default virtual keyboard in Harmattan, although it still looks quite similar afterwards (only slight changes in key spacing or layout, and so on). I am wondering whether a more sophisticated alternate keyboard could be installed based on the great ideas of the developer who created FingerTerm. Thanks in advance for your answers.
