It used to have excellent wifi reception until it was hit by several bowling balls and pins in the pinsetter. I am thinking it may hopefully be just a cracked solder joint. Because now the phone must be next to the wifi access point.

I'd check the WiFi antenna in the first place, maybe it's been cut off. That would explain the poor reception....
