I have been checking bootlogs from a normal boot and a boot where I tried to mount /home as encrypted volume.
The first thing indeed where it goes bonkers is the aforementioned log "devicelockd: aegis_common.cpp(387): ERROR creation of '/home' failed (Transport endpoint is not connected)"
Here you can see filtered logs from normal boot (

) and failing boot (

)
You can compare the logs wit meld or similar tool to see how they differ....
