Personally I see systemd as a non issue. We are using upstart right now for compatibility/historical reasons, and until the startup stuff is untangled, we can definitely not switch to openrc or systemd. It also really should not matter much, it's a luxury problem. Let's first get hammering on the things that are essential. Same goes for devuan/debian. They are so similar that it shouldn't be hard to branch out in a specific direction down the road.
