I've googled a lot. Clearly this has come up often on these forums and you know what? Every solution ends badly for me.

So. I have OS 2006 at the latest version on the Nokia site.

I have 'taken the red pill'.

I've got root.

I've installed the OSSO (?) X-Term which has the pleasing 'feature' of not parsing the backspace from the screen keyboard, which means if I make a mistake I have to type it all again (anyone know how to fix that?)

So, I attempted to install libxpm4 from the http://repository.maemo.org/pool/ maemo 3.0 and that just says 'unable to install'. At first it asked for x11-command.

However, I installed that from Application Manager by adding http://repository.maemo.org
herring
main

So I now ran my root and I tried to use apt-get install libxpm4.

It seems that when running libc6 (---configure) there is:

"subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status2"

This causes the failure.

I'm hoping (to god) that someone out there understands the whole thing a lot more than me and can tell me how I can just INSTALL GALAGA!

Previously I did try to install a libc6 >2.5 but this failed. This was because I found a version of libxpm4 that required that libc6. Could this have damanged it?

That's all I want. Just one game, xgalaga. But it's flaming impossible.!

Okay...this is now strangely resolved.

I installed the 2007 OS but it was so slow and clunky that I went back to the 2006. This has resulted in me having no problems seeing libxpm4 in the listing of installs from the application manager and then installing Galaga.

Not sure why it wasn't working before.

So my advice to anyone having issues: 'upgrade' to the most recent OS even if you already have it installed.
