I just picked up a 770 and I'm really pleased with it. I'm sooooooo glad I bought this over a Windows PDA. Anyway, it's running OS 2006 and I cannot believe the amount of time I'm getting from one battery charge (about 5ish hours). I read somewhere that one of the downsides of OS 2007 is the poor battery management and was wondering if that's still the case.

This is a great forum. Thanks for reading my post.

Batter management has improved with the latest OS 2007 release on N800 - on the whole it's at least comparable to that of the OS 2006/770 battery lifetime. If you mean battery liftetime with OS 2007 on 770, that's most likely due to the fact that it's a work in progress and the currently available version needs more work (which it will be getting, soon).

It may be more of a hardware thing. My 770 is great in that when i put the cover on it, it kindof hibernates which might save more power. Also 800 is clocked higher and screen *might* pull more power (seems the device gets warmer than 770).

Perhaps someone can tell (or you can search) to see if latest versions of 2007HE support locking screen, keys, and disconnecting net connection when case is closed.

I still use 770 daily -on the road- because its built like a tank. 800 reserved for home or when i plan to be careful

I'm using 2007HE on my 770 and my battery life so far is identical to 2006 if not better. The tablet does go into hibernate with the cover on.

Thanks very much for the replies. I think I'm going to hold off upgrading until the current work on 2007 is completed.

os2007 doesn't turn off the wireless when you put the cover on though.
