Hi Jer,

Sorry, it seems that you cannot add the .ra audio file straigh.. needs to be a resource (like rss file) I think rmb rmjb something like that... hkenneth told me that he did for the live5 radios : /

I am checking (to see if there's any legal problem) to ship already with bbc radios configured (just a URL must have no problem)

But, I will talk to kenne also to see how can we add support for the files URL.

I've managed to get BBC Radio 1 working... but the audio quality was terrible.

So I've gone back to using the desktop applet as the quality from that was fine... using the same URL.

I should add that this is a real shame as I love Canola otherwise....

not sure why the quality was so bad... is it using the same built in Media player as the DT applet ?

Stoo : funny because we "dont" play... gstreamr / default media player does.. just like the desktop.. maybe we are setting low quality in some where...
We will investigate it...

Thanks to konaboy32 I got the links for the .ram files for the BBC audio streams, the place to go for these is http://www.bbcradio.mobi/ initially I was trying to use the .ra and .rm file links which are in the beebotron which did not work for me. Using the .ram works perfectly and I had no quality issues!

Awesome job guys!

Marcelo, I have found the same thing happening now as Stoo, when I stream bbc radio 1 through canola the quality is very bad and the volume is low - could be just a bad connection but the built in media player works great. Is there a way to show what bit rate you are connected at when streaming media - i.e. real audio tells you that way you can tell visually how good/bad the connection is?

Hiu Jer,

Send a message to STOO he find out how to solve it ( I think )
if not we will look into this,
but is really strange that it plays higher quality on media player

The thing in the end : canola must be teching a low quality stream in the parser.. b ecause the player.. is the same =)
