I think you misunderstood me. I didn't mean PGP, just SSL. My email accounts' IMAP servers definitely use it, and going to gmail.com seems to redirect to https. Sure, your mail server admin can still read your mail, but having such nonexistent security that even your phone operator can intercept it is just stupid.

And his attitude really sucked anyway. "So what if some company is actively spying on me, I'm already ok with other companies having the ability".

i think the biggest issue with mail, is that people approach it as if its sent in a envelope, when its more like a postcard...
