Nokia is in progress of registering a blue butterfly logo that is presumably going to be for NFC-enabled services or even line of mobile phones.

Dang, simple, makes sense, and half-way innovative with the use of colors/shading. I like it.

Nokia has been big on NFC for some time now; I really was hoping that Maemo 5 would support it out of the box, but maybe that's what Maemo 6 and the *big consumer push* is for???

Its been in the consumer space for a good while now. I've got a SmartTrip card (DC Metro) that uses something similar. And Nokia's got a few phones with it (3320 and 5140). Too bad they just haven't been able to push it faster.

I could have sworn that there was a NFC enabled phone a few years back??
I remember I was looking at kit for hacking rf tags and a certain nokia phone was an option.

Yeah, I was being a bit facetious based on prior disappointment.

According to Wikipedia, these phones are NFC enabled:
  • Nokia 6216 Classic
  • Nokia 6212 Classic
  • Nokia 6131
  • Nokia 3220 with NFC shell
  • Samsung SGH-X700 NFC
  • Samsung D500E
  • SAGEM my700X Contactless
  • LG 600V contactless
  • Motorola L7 (SLVR)
  • Benq T80
So it seems that most manufacturers are keeping a finger in the pie.

Regards,
Roger

Yeah it was one of those 6xxx phones we were playing with at the Nokia Alliance factory. Very hush hush project at the time.
