Is there anyone working on a Gnutella client for Fremantle? I use Limewire/Frostwire regularly on my desktop, and Symella on my S60 devices. Having a similar app for Fremantle would be a great idea, and bring my desktop dependency down a notch.

So is there any word if anyone is trying to port this. This mite be a good idea for someone trying the coding competition.
It would be really handy to be able to download any song at the touch of a button.

If you want a gnutella client for n900.. first find an open source client.. Hopefully you can find a linux arm version.. and post source in here.. and then just hope a developer will be kind a fix it..

Lets blow some life into this thread.
AP said something about GTK-Gnutella.
Fortunately, it is a build for ARM!
But needs optimization.
Found here:
http://packages.debian.org/lenny/gtk-gnutella
As Maemo is based upon Debian, i guess Lenny is the equivalent?

I'm sorry, but what does this client do and what is it for exactly?

i could be wrong so don't quote me but it is a peer to peer protocol like they use in lime wire and bare share. it allows users to share files with other users using this specific protocol to transfer/share files between one another. i think this is with out using a central server to hold/store the information exchanged

my question is if we have apps like transmission do we need a gnutula client and why?

gnutella whould still be handy since there are lots of people who use applications like limewire ect so to have access to all that extra media is handy.
Plus a gnutella client is probable the best way to search and download a single track.
